Last week Sophie visited San Antonio to be with Daddy while he was working. Sophie got to stay in a hotel room for the first time, go shopping with Mommy and eat at the Hard Rock Cafe! When Sophie wasn't eating or sleeping at the Hard Rock, she stared at an electric guitar hung on the wall. Hmmm...future rock star? Teen rebel?
Sunday was Sophie's first day to go to church...outside the womb. She did great. She got hungry toward the end of the service, but other than that, she was a sleeping angel. Here's the little girl all dolled up in her church dress.
And yesterday Sophie got to meet Santa! She slept through the whole thing, not even waking when she was taken out of her car seat or placed back in it. But it was fun! Here's Santa and the teeny-weeny.
Next week will be Sophie's first time in an airplane and in Alabama. She's visiting Nanny and Pappy Kilponen for Christmas. More fun pictures to come.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

A day of rest
Sophie-bean gave me a little rest today. She’s been sleeping all day it seems…waking every three to four hours to eat. I’m happy to have the time to chill, but I’m a little worried at how much she’s been sleeping today. Then again, we were out all day in Ft. Worth yesterday. She could just be tired from that…or she could be growing…or she’s just a newborn who sleeps because that’s what they do. I’ll just stop worrying and be grateful that I had a day to relax a little, which came at a perfect time.
I was just wondering the other day when the SuperMom instincts kick in. Becoming a parent has been great beyond description and also exhausting. I can’t wait to hold my little girl after her naps and watch her little face light up when I talk to her. The downside is the recovery. My body still aches and I have chest pains randomly. I’m tired by 8 p.m. and it takes a lot of effort to fix my hair and put on makeup if I plan to leave the house. I look forward to the days when I have energy again to keep up with my little one. The downside is that she’ll be older and bigger and I won’t have my tiny little munchkin to snuggle with as much. So when she’s hungry at 2 a.m., I’ll remind myself that she won’t be this little forever and to enjoy snuggling with her while I can, ‘cause she’s so fun to snuggle with!
So back to why we were in Ft. Worth…Sophie has a little rash/sore thing on her bottom that the doctors were unfamiliar with. We were referred to a dermatologist in Ft. Worth who was able to help us. I was so excited that she knew what Sophie has. She also knew what treatment options we have and planned to do a little research to see what would work best for Sophie. Bottom line – it’s treatable and not permanent. Once Sophie has the treatment and the spots go away, the doctor said they won’t come back. Yay! That was such a huge relief. A weight was lifted from me just to hear the doc say it will go away and it won’t have any long-lasting effects on Sophie.
I can’t believe my little sweet pea is five weeks old already! Time has flown by! It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. And Christmas is around the corner.
I have to go for now to feed my Sophie-bean. Here are some more cute pictures of my little punkin.
